With the Super Bowl in the books, the New York Giants' 2024 season is finally, mercifully over. In a year that saw Big Blue set a franchise record with 10 straight losses and finish with a franchise-worst 14 losses overall, it was a season the Giants and their fanbase would love to forget.
With the Giants slated to pick third overall in the upcoming NFL Draft, it's all but certain they'll draft their next franchise quarterback after releasing Daniel Jones, who was in the second year of his four-year, $160 million contract. But the Giants have more problems beyond the quarterback position that must be addressed if they want to compete in the ultra-competitive NFC East.
And with the offseason now in full swing, mock drafts are rolling in from analysts across the league. This latest projection has the G-Men knocking it out of the park with their first three draft selections.
Could these first three-round draft projections be a slam dunk for the Giants?
In his first three-round mock draft, Chad Reuter of NFL.com made a very compelling prediction for the Giants' selections. With quarterback being the clear priority, Reuter has Big Blue taking young signal-caller Shedeur Sanders out of Colorado at third overall. As for their second- and third-round selections, Reuter focused on their biggest remaining positional needs.
With their second-round pick (34th overall), Reuter projects the Giants to take offensive lineman Grey Zabel out of North Dakota State. For their third-round pick (65th overall), he has them drafting cornerback Benjamin Morrison out of Notre Dame.
It may seem too early to call any mock draft a home run, but at least for the Giants, this one checks a lot of boxes.

Even though the Giants are expected to draft a quarterback in Round 1, with Sanders as a legitimate option, targeting an offensive lineman and a cornerback makes sense. Despite allowing just 48 sacks last season—a massive improvement from 82 sacks in 2023—Zabel could be the right rookie to compete for a starting spot alongside veteran linemen Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor.
As for the cornerback position, Morrison could be a potential impact player who might compete with and potentially replace former first-round pick Deonte Banks if Banks continues to struggle. They already have one franchise corner in Dru Phillips, who really impressed as a rookie this past year.
This is a critical draft for Joe Schoen and Co., and they must nail it. Sanders may be the most logical pick at quarterback, but with an always-questionable offensive line and a struggling secondary, these projections could be the right moves for Big Blue.
