NFL insider exposes crushing reality of Giants’ unraveling QB plans

At this point, it would be more surprising if something actually went right for the New York Giants’ quarterback search. First, they swung and missed on Matthew Stafford. Then, they got played by Aaron Rodgers. Then, Russell Wilson left East Rutherford without a deal. Now, their supposed plan to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft? Well, that might be dead too.

On his Breaking Big Blue podcast, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan all but confirmed what many had suspected—Plan A is gone, and Plan B is on life support:

“Plan A was to get Matthew Stafford this offseason,” Raanan said. “Plan B appears to be try to get the No. 1 overall pick, that appears dead too.”

The Giants reportedly had their eyes on Miami’s Cam Ward and were in discussions with the Tennessee Titans about a potential trade-up. But now? It looks like they’re staying put at No. 3, with no guarantee that their quarterback of choice will even be there.

That means Big Blue is at the mercy of the Titans and Cleveland Browns. If Tennessee takes Ward at No. 1 and Cleveland takes Shedeur Sanders at No. 2, the Giants could be left scrambling. And let’s be real—does anyone trust this team to have a Plan C that doesn’t involve complete desperation?

Giants’ plans to trade for No. 1 overall pick appear dead

With the No. 1 pick now likely out of reach, the Giants now have a decision to make. Do they ride it out at No. 3 and hope their preferred quarterback falls into their lap? Do they wait until Day 2 to select their quarterback of the future? Or do they pivot back to the veteran market and try to salvage this thing before it completely spirals out of control?

It’s already bad enough that Stafford used them to get a new deal with the Los Angeles Rams. Rodgers is still weighing retirement and reportedly prefers the Minnesota Vikings over anyone else. Wilson is waiting around to see if the Giants will budge on his contract demands, and Joe Flacco’s name keeps getting thrown around like it’s 2012 again. Kirk Cousins was once in the conversation, but that ship seems to have sailed.

When is good news going to pull up?

This was supposed to be the offseason where the Giants finally figured out their quarterback problem. Instead, they’re running out of options fast.

If they can’t land their guy in the draft and Rodgers bolts for Minnesota, we might be looking at a 2025 season led by Wilson, Flacco, or—brace yourselves—Tommy DeVito. Could you imagine? The margin for error is gone. It’s time for general manager Joe Schoen to make a move before the Giants are left empty-handed yet again.
