The New York Giants have told us with their actions that they're all but ready to move on from wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. Now, recent intel indicates that the feeling is mutual, foreshadowing a breakup ahead of the NFL's rapidly approaching Nov. 4 trade deadline.
Hyatt "would like a fresh start elsewhere" after being rendered obsolete in New York's offense, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. And by the sound of it, the Giants seem open to moving on from their 2023 third-round selection following a disappointing two-plus seasons.
Fowler highlights the Giants' current state of affairs and how the club may consequently sell off players in the coming days. With that in mind, Hyatt (among others who haven't panned out in New York) could be headed for a change of scenery.

"It's worth monitoring whether the Giants can recoup draft capital of several former picks that have not worked out," Fowler wrote, mentioning Hyatt's preferred exit. " ... perhaps there is late-round value in a series of guys who just haven't worked out."
With roughly one and a half years remaining on his rookie contract, you'd hope Hyatt can at least fetch a Day 3 draft choice. The combination of cost-friendly team control, pedigree, age and untapped potential is appealing. However, he's more of a concept than a reality at this stage, to say the least.
While it has yet to translate to success at the next level, Hyatt entered the pros coming off a Biletnikoff Award campaign at Tennessee. He was recognized as the best wideout in college football and just turned 24 in September. Perhaps someone might be willing to give him a mulligan on his forgetful stint in New York and take a low-risk flier on him.
Conversely, few squads have been as receiver-needy as the G-Men, further diminishing Hyatt's time in New York and driving suitors away. He's operated almost exclusively as a deep threat and has been virtually nonexistent. His role has remained extremely limited in 2025, even with target-hog wideout Malik Nabers sidelined due to a torn ACL and meniscus.
Across five games with the Giants this season, Hyatt has yielded three catches for 17 scoreless yards on nine targets.
