The NY Giants don't have a starting quarterback for the 2025 season and their options are starting to run out. They tried to get Matthew Stafford and that didn't work. Sam Darnold had been linked to them but he chose to go to the Seahawks, who just opted to blow up their roster over the Giants.

A few options remain but the biggest name left in the running is none other than Aaron Rodgers. Giants fans might not love the idea of Rodgers playing for their team but it does appear that he's still in the running to play for the other team in New York after his Jets stint didn't go according to plan.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted that the Steelers could have a deal with Rodgers wrapped up on Tuesday but also said the Giants are still in it.

"There’s still a chance the Giants could pilfer Rodgers. If they make him a much richer offer, he might jump on the chance to stay in New York.
One big factor comes from Rodgers’s desire to play two more years. If he picks the Giants, and if the Giants fail to make it to the playoffs in 2025, co-owner John Mara could clean house in 2026. A new G.M. and a new head coach could result in the same decision the other New York team made this year — a decision to move on from Rodgers."

NY Giants still in position to sign Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers was a first-round pick by the Packers in 2005 and spent 18 years there before getting traded to the Jets in the 2023 offseason. Rodgers missed pretty much all of the 2023 season with an Achilles injury but returned for the 2024 season where the Jets finished with a disappointing 5-12 record.

While the Jets weren't good in 2024, it wasn't all on Rodgers. Yes, he's 41 and will turn 42 near the end of the 2025 season but he showed some glimpses of his old self during his 2024 performance and would have Malik Nabers at his disposal.

If the Steelers end up signing Rodgers, the Giants will be down to trying to get someone like Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston to sign with them. They could also hope that a quarterback falls to them at third overall or trade up in the draft. This isn't a fun spot to be in and given how poorly the Giants front office has been when making these decisions, fans have a right to be anxious.
