All offseason, there were signs pointing to a reunion between the New York Giants and Odell Beckham Jr., and on Monday, that reunion finally happened. New York re-signed the veteran wideout that it drafted back in 2014, and he’s hoping to recreate some of the magic he made during his original rise to stardom with the team.

While the sense of nostalgia may be leading to some excitement, most fans still recognize that Beckham is far removed from the receiver who had children rocking blonde mohawks and shouting his name when they made a catch.

Because of the reality that Beckham is past his prime, Giants fans’ biggest receiver question is still the health of Malik Nabers.

Odell Beckham Jr.‘s presence doesn’t change how much Giants need Malik Nabers

New York is understandably throwing a lot at the wide receiver room, signing Beckham, Braxton Berrios, and JuJu Smith-Schuster on Monday. However, none of them can ease the concern surrounding Nabers as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

The wide receiver is currently grinding through rehab after multiple surgeries on a knee where he sustained a torn ACL and meniscus injury last season. Everyone would love for the wideout to be on the field in Week 1, but with each update about Nabers’ health, there’s a fear that won’t be happening.

The Giants certainly realize that, and that could be part of the reason why they are adding so many receivers. Still, none of them can bring what a healthy Nabers could, not even Odell Beckham Jr. if he’s better than expected.

Malik Nabers, as a rookie, caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. He also made the Pro Bowl, immediately establishing himself as one of the best receivers in the league. That contined in 2025, catching 18 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns before going down with an injury.

Everyone wants to see the young wideout get his exciting career back on track, but Nabers’ body will ultimately decide when that will happen. Until he’s healthy and ready to play like himself, the Giants will have to make things work with the likes of Odell Beckham Jr., amongst all the other receivers they have.
