Patrick Mahomes did the 'illegal' Darius Slayton celebration with no consequences

Yup, nothing to see here when it's Patrick Mahomes.

We're sorry if we're beating a dead horse here, but it's time for the NFL to issue an apology. We're talking about NY Giants wideout Darius Slayton and the bogus unsportsmanlike penalty he was flagged for against the Seattle Seahawks.

In case you somehow missed it, Slayton pointed for a first down, but it was deemed inappropriate and laundry hit the field. It was an embarrassing call - one of the worst in league history. During Sunday Night Football, CeeDee Lamb did the exact same thing and nothing happened.

Then during Monday Night Football, Patrick Mahomes followed suit with the 'guns pointing' move, and everyone laughed, everyone smiled, everyone talked about how great the KC QB is. So, why can Lamb and Mahomes get away with this, but Slayton is the only one to get busted?

Patrick Mahomes did the same Darius Slayton celebration and wasn't flagged

All we're asking for is consistency. When this all went down with Slayton, the veteran wideout was in total disbelief. Giants legend Victor Cruz took to Twitter to let everyone know how disgusted he was with the call too. Right now, it looks like the NFL is just letting superstar players do what they want, but guys like Slayton are the ones who have to follow the rules.

Slayton looked like an elite playmaker in the Week 5 win over Seattle, finishing with eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown. What made his TD even better was it came on the same drive that he was hit with the ludicrous penalty.

Part of us wishes that win over Seattle came in primetime, just so the rest of the world could have seen how silly his penalty was. It should have never happened and it remains a joke. The league letting Lamb and Mahomes get away with the exact same thing makes things worse.
