PFF's idea of a 'fairytale' Giants-Texas trade would cost Joe Schoen his job
As we get even closer to the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline, we're surely going to see plenty of NY Giants playmakers mentioned as possible targets. Already, we've seen guys like Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt and Azeez Ojulari listed as players who will be targeted by other teams.
Let's make one thing perfectly clear, though, there is simply no way in hell that Dexter Lawrence can be sent to a different squad. Not for anything. Unless three first-round picks come in for Lawrence, Joe Schoen needs to hang up the phone with anyone who has the audacity to ask if he's available.
Earlier this year, deranged Minnesota Vikings fans started running wild with the idea of Sexy Dexy making his way to the NFC North - never going to happen. Fast forward to present time and the team over at Pro Football Focus has a Lawrence to the Texans trade in mind. Come on!
The NY Giants trading Dexter Lawrence this season is never going to happen
"It would be highly unlikely for New York to move Lawrence, even if the team continues to lose. But, one hypothetical landing spot could be Houston. The Texans are positioned incredibly well at edge rusher with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr., but the interior of its defensive line has been shoddy. The Texans rank 26th in overall grade by defensive linemen, with their highest-graded IDL being Mario Edwards Jr. at a 61.9 overall mark. GM Nick Caserio pulled off a splash to draft C.J. Stroud and Anderson back-to-back in 2023, and this would be equally as improbable. But boy, would it be an insane acquisition."

In a dream world for Texans fans, sure, Lawrence will be on the move and he'll make his way to the AFC South. However, there's just no scenario where Schoen would trade his best player. Lawrence has been a total force for the G-Men this year and one of only a few bright spots in 2024.
The man is an interior defensive lineman, yet he's among the best pass-rushers in the NFL? That's the case, with Lawrence currently leading the league with his nine sacks. The 6-4, 340-pounder has already reached a career-high for sacks with 10 more games to go. He's on another level these days.
Lawrence is not only in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation, but hey, he might just be the favorite to win the award. He's been a total stud for Brian Daboll and there's still plenty of season to go. Lawrence is going to keep balling out for the rest of '24 and he's going to be doing so in a Giants jersey, not a Houston one.
