Darius Slayton flames NFL for blatant superstar bias after bogus celebration penalty

Good for Slayton. The refs were a joke for this call.

You know what, good for NY Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton. We've covered this story multiple times and we're not done. In the thrilling 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks, Slayton was hit with an embarrassing unsportsmanlike penalty.

The 15-yard flag came right after Slayton hauled in a deep bomb from Daniel Jones for a big-time completion. Slayton pointed it was a first down, but the 'finger guns' celebration is what got him in hot water. It was a bogus call that should have never been made.

The big issue here too is that players have been doing this for years. After Slayton, though, CeeDee Lamb did the exact same thing on Sunday Night Football and nothing happened. Then during Monday Night Football, Patrick Mahomes did it - JuJu Smith-Schuster did as well. Of course all three of those players were hit with penalties, right?

Nope. The games went on and Mahomes, Lamb and Smith-Schuster were applauded for their respective plays. Not one even batted an eye at them doing the 'finger guns' move. Slayton took notice of this and rightfully put the league on blast. It's totally unfair he was the only one to face consequences for it:

Again, good for Slayton. Is he the only one getting in trouble because he plays for the (at the time) 1-3 Giants and not America's Team or the reigning Super Bowl champions? Mahomes can walk on water, we all know that - but come on, where is the consistency?

If Slayton got flagged for this, then every single other person who did it after him needs to get penalized too. Thankfully, the Giants were able to score on that same drive, with Slayton hauling in a 30-yard TD from Jones. New York also posted the win, improving to 2-3 on the campaign.

Can you imagine if that 15-yarder would have resulted in keeping points off the board for the Giants? It would have made things 1,000 times worse. That wasn't the case and now we can all just laugh at how stupid the decision was in the first place.

At the same time, plenty of people remain furious and annoyed by the call. This includes Slayton, who has every right to be ticked off. Take solace in knowing your 122-yard showing helped post a memorable upset, 8-6. Slayton can use this as motivation to have another strong showing in Week 6, this time in primetime vs. the Bengals.
