It’s been a while since there’s been this much excitement surrounding the New York Giants, but after stringing together a strong offseason—capped by a solid NFL Draft class—things are looking up.

The biggest headlines from the draft came when the Giants selected star pass rusher Abdul Carter with the third overall pick and traded up to No. 25 to land Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. But one of the most buzz-worthy additions may actually be running back Cam Skattebo, whom the G-Men were able to grab with the 105th overall pick.

Skattebo had an incredible season at Arizona State last year, rushing for over 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns, while adding 605 receiving yards. His arrival could form a potentially explosive backfield tandem with Tyrone Tracy Jr., last year’s late-round gem who quickly earned a starting role.

Could the Tracy–Skattebo pairing end up being one of the most dangerous duos this franchise has seen in years?

PFF predicts Tracy and Skattebo to be an electric running back duo in 2025

In an article for Pro Football Focus, Trevor Sikkema raved about the potential of this duo and how they could energize the Giants’ offense in 2025.

"Skattebo was my RB3 and 51st-ranked overall prospect. I like the smash-and-dash combination his tough running style brings to life with Tyrone Tracy Jr. already established in the lineup," Sikkema said. "Skattebo earned an elite 94.6 PFF rushing grade in 2024 with the second-most missed tackles forced (103) in the country.

Tracy, like Skattebo, was a late-round draft pick. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft and took off after starting running back Devin Singletary went down early in the season. He ran for 839 yards and five touchdowns, adding 38 catches for 284 receiving yards and another score through the air.

Tracy’s breakout performance included a 129-yard rushing game in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, where he averaged 7.2 yards per carry on 18 attempts.

The G-Men are hoping Tracy can build on his strong rookie year with an even better sophomore season—and that Skattebo can live up to his college hype and become one of the steals of the draft.

If both backs hit their stride, this duo could be the most dynamic one the Giants have fielded in years—and defenses across the NFC should be paying close attention.
