Ex-Giants coach Joe Judge screwed Bill Belichick and Pats with lost OTAs
Things aren't going according to plan for Joe Judge with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Why, who saw this coming? After a nightmare stint as head coach of the NY Giants, a decision that should have never been made by Dave Gettleman, Judge made his way to Foxborough.
Judge is entering his second campaign with the Pats, now working with the special teams unit. However, it looks like a costly Judge mistake has cost Belichick big time. According to Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal, a Pats violation earlier the offseason, led by Judge, cost New England two OTAs workouts. Goodness.
Joe Judge cost the Patriots two OTAs sessions due to a careless mistake
Per Bedard, Judge scheduled meetings with players that caused them to go over the time limit they were allowed to be at the team facility during the offseason. Imagine Belichick being informed that two of his spring sessions were taken away from him because of Judge's error.
He probably let the former NY head man have it. Oh, and don't forget that Belichick was fined on top of that. The original complaint against the Pats was filed on May 4. While the league deemed that New England was cooperative from start to finish after these rules violations were brought up, that didn't prevent them from dropping a bit of a hammer on the AFC East side.
With that said, how could Judge let something like this happen? There's a reason these rules are put into place and he can't just be oblivious to them. If anything, this is a prime example of why he was never a good fit to lead Big Blue.
Right now, Patriots fans are furious with Judge, with plenty of folks calling for him to be fired. Come on, Judge - you've got to be smarter than this.
