While not a lot went according to plan for the NY Giants last season, no one can deny that this team has some true playmakers on the roster. At the top of the list has to be veteran defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who is no question one of the best in the game.
That's why it was no surprise that Lawrence was featured on Pete Prisco's list of the NFL's Top 100 players entering the new campaign. He wasn't alone in the Top 100, as new pass-rusher Brian Burns, just acquired this offseason from the Panthers, also made the cut for the G-Men.
Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns will be ready for huge years in 2024
Lawrence was the highest-rated Giant, checking in at No. 19. Sexy Dexy is also the No. 1 interior defensive lineman, with Quinnen Williams being the No. 2 DT and the No. 29 player overall here. It's a great spot for Lawrence, who moved up 15 spots from where he was in 2023.
"He is a massive man in the middle of the New York defense who makes it tough to run inside. But he is also a power pass rusher inside who can really push the pocket, which makes him far more than just a one-dimensional run stuffer. "Pete Prisco on Lawrence
As for Burns, Giants Nation can't wait to see what he can do in Year 1 working in East Rutherford. Burns is one of the best pass-rushers in the game. Now that he's going to be suiting up with Kayvon Thibodeaxu, and Lawrence, the Giants pass-rush has the potential to be the best in the league.
"He has 20 1/2 sacks the past two seasons, but this is a big year for him to prove he can be one of the league's best. The Giants traded a lot to get him to pair with Kayvon Thibodeaux, so he has to produce."Prisco on Burns
Burns dropped 29 spots from the 2023 list, but let's hope he can prove Prisco wrong a bit here. There are a lot of changes for the Giants this season, but the Burns addition is one that people are still celebrating and rightfully so. Both him and Lawrence will be beasts for Shane Bowen in '24.
