Finally, the NY Giants training camp has arrived and we have gotten our first look at this new squad since OTAs and minicamp. With this, some players have shown out, and others have disappointed. This is a tradition every year at training camp and is nothing to overreact about.
Despite this, we've noticed some things during camp, both good and bad, that are worth monitoring moving forward. We're hopeful the negative aspects of camp don't have a long-lasting impact heading into the season, and hopefully these positive takeaways continue as the Giants look to return to the playoffs in 2024.
Here are 3 early NY Giants concerns from training camp and 2 positives
Concern: Poor offensive line play
Throughout the first two practices, the Giants' offensive line has looked rather suspect. While this can be spun into how well the pass-rush is looking thus far, we still expect better from this line, especially given the signings Joe Schoen made.
For example, this play from Daniel Jones has gotten a lot of attention. However, what has gone seemingly unnoticed, is the way multiple pass rushers got to Jones untouched. It's only been two days, but this is not a good look at all for the offensive line.
Hopefully, as training camp progresses, the rust wears off and we see guys like Andrew Thomas, Jon Runyan, and John Michael-Schmitz step it up more. They need to if the Giants want any real chance at success this season.
