Awful Daniel Jones throw at NY Giants training camp already going viral
There's really no way to sugarcoat things for the NY Giants: the first day of training camp was less than ideal for head man Brian Daboll. To start things off, Jermaine Eluemunor went down with an injury and he had to be helped off the field.
The offensive line had a rough showing and it impacted the play of Daniel Jones. That much was showcased on one play in particular. Jones tried to dump off a pass to Devin Singletary, but pass-rusher Brian Burns was right in his face. It led to a terrible toss from Jones, which unfortunately has people ripping him to shreds on social media:
Daniel Jones and the NY Giants didn't have a great opening day of camp
Yeah, that one wasn't even close. People are blasting Jones over this play, but come on, we can't just clown on him because of one mistake. This is why we practice - Jones is still getting used to Singletary being in the backfield with him and not Saquon Barkley.
Still, though, Jones can't waste time in proving to his haters that he's ready to take a step forward this campaign. A lot of NY supporters were hoping that Joe Schoen would trade up for a Danny Dimes' replacement, but as Hard Knocks has shown us, Schoen ran into plenty of problems trying to get that done and he had to 'settle' for Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall.
Speaking of Nabers, he could have helped Jones have a head-turning completion for his day, but in wild fashion, the first-rounder proved he was human by dropping the ball. We don't want to take down Nabers here, but this is a catch he simply has to make once Sundays get here in September:
This could all just be a case of the Giants shaking off some rust as a whole. There's no need to overreact from the first day of training camp. With that said, we've got to see more consistency from everyone in white and blue, especially Jones.
