4 biggest NY Giants winners (and 2 losers) from the unreal Week 5 win
Winner: DL Dexter Lawrence
The level of dominance Dexter Lawrence continues to reach every week is truly absurd. There simply may not be a better player on defense in the NFL right now and the fact that Lawrence is doing this as a nose tackle makes things even crazier. Following Week 5, Lawrence is now tied for second in the NFL in sacks with six and has shown no signs of slowing down.
Against the Seahawks, Lawrence tallied four combined tackles, three sacks, and five pressures. He had the entire Seattle interior offensive line in hell all game and made things easier for guys like D.J Davidson, who had two sacks himself. If Lawrence keeps this up, nothing is stopping him from winning the Defensive Player of the Year trophy.
Winner: QB Daniel Jones
Following a heavily critiqued game against the Cowboys in which Jones failed to complete several game-changing passes, many questioned how he would fare against Seattle. Despite this, Jones followed it up by playing one of the best games of his career. While Jones has certainly had better statistical games, the way he ran the offense was something we haven't seen out of him too often.
By the time Bryce Ford-Wheaton returned the game-sealing blocked kick, Jones had completed 23 of his 34 pass attempts for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Not only did Jones look sharp on his short passes, but he even completed a few deep ones to Slayton. For the first time in a while, we truly have no complaints about Jones' level of play.
