Following the Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, thousands of people were calling for Brian Daboll and the NY Giants to bench Daniel Jones. It's not going to happen, as Coach Dabes has wasted no time in saying that Danny Dimes is going to be his starting signal-caller in Week 2 to take on the Washington Commanders.

Jones is going to be ready to try and bounce back at FedEx Field, as his showing vs. the Vikings was simply brutal. While Daboll is sticking with him for the second game of the season, what will happen if Jones struggles again and the Giants are routed on the road by Washington? If you ask ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, it will lead to even more fans calling for Jones to be replaced. Not only that, but could it lead to Daboll shaking things up?

Daniel Jones could be on borrowed time as the NY Giants starter

In the Week 1 defeat, Jones completed 22-of-42 pass attempts for 186 yards. He finished with two interceptions, with one going straight to Andrew Van Ginkel, which he took back to the house for six. The boo birds were raining in at MetLife Stadium, which is not what anyone wanted to see.

Jones and Co. entered the campaign with a great chance to start the year 2-0: Minnesota was starting Sam Darnold, while NY has owned Washington in recent seasons. Instead, Darnold looked like a Pro Bowler against Shane Bowen's defense, while the Commanders will be home favorites against Big Blue for the upcoming contest.

In order for the Giants to post an upset win and enter Week 3 with a 1-1 record, Jones is going to have to do a 180. Not only that, but NY and Daboll will need to be aggressive in throwing the ball downfield. Get Malik Nabers and Jalin Hyatt going early and often, please.

The stage is set for the G-Men to take down the Commanders, but it'll be on Jones to get this offense moving. If he doesn't and plays the way he did vs. Minnesota, then Daboll may have no choice but to see what Drew Lock can do with the ball in his hands.
