We are closing in on the final hours for the NY Giants to finalize their 53-man roster. At 4 p.m. on Aug. 27, head man Brian Daboll will have to make all of his tough decisions. On the list is whether or not to keep three quarterbacks around. The big mystery here is will Tommy DeVito stick around for the Week 1 showdown vs. the Vikings?

There's been loads of speculation in recent weeks about what might happen. With Drew Lock working his way back from injury and Daniel Jones' play shaky vs. Houston, wouldn't it make sense to keep the kid known as Tommy Cutlets around?

Leading up to cut day, this feels like it could go either way. NFL insider Adam Schefter, who has his pulse on everything going on around the league, came up with a list of cut/trade candidates before the upcoming deadline and he has DeVito on his list. Is he trying to tell us something here?

Could the Giants end up trading Tommy DeVito?

If the Giants don't feature DeVito on their 53-man roster, then the hope would be to keep him on the practice squad, but there's the risk of having another team sign him off of it. DeVito saw significant action last season due to injuries to Jones and Tyrod Taylor, with his play being highlighted by a three-game winning streak.

For the campaign, he tossed for 1,101 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games - he posted six starts, going 3-3 during that time. We just saw the Titans trade Malik Willis to the Packers for a seventh-round pick. Could Joe Schoen look to land a late-round pick for DeVito instead of potentially losing him for nothing?

This could all turn out to be nothing if the Giants just keep a spot for him on the 53-man roster, but again, it's totally unknown if that's going to happen or not. Schefter believes either trading him or releasing him could be in the works. We don't want to see this go down, but people in New York and New Jersey may have to get used to the idea of the cult hero suiting up for a different team.
