Key NY Giants signing getting injured on Day 1 of camp proves this team is cursed
Haven't we all suffered enough? Seriously, what is going on with the NY Giants and injuries always breaking our hearts? It's been a busy start to training camp for the team, which included a head-turning position change for Jermaine Eluemunor - he's now at right tackle.
However, before he could even get his feet wet on the outside, rough news came in. Per The Athletic's Dan Duggan, Eluemunor went toe-to-toe with Dexter Lawrence on a play, fell to the turf and he was down on the ground in a ton of pain for a while. He walked off the field gingerly and turned away a cart that was brought out for him:
Jermaine Eluemunor suffering an injury for the NY Giants is a sick joke
We can't even go a couple of hours without having to hit the panic button? Eluemunor was moved over to RT with Evan Neal being placed on the PUP list. General manager Joe Schoen said Neal is close to getting back on the field, but the switch for Eluemunor is quite telling.
It feels like he has the lead in the race to start at RT and Neal will be on the bench once Week 1 rolls around. However, we must now and wait to see if Eluemunor's injury is serious or not. We don't want to speculate on what happened, but Duggan did note that the hoss was holding his stomach/ribs area.
This has some Giants fans a bit relieved knowing that this isn't a lower-body injury, such as an issue with his knee. Still, though, the fact that this happened on the first day of camp, not even that long into the opening session, is a sick joke.
Eluemunor signed a two-year deal with the Giants this offseason and his versatility was a major plus for Brian Daboll and new OL coach Carmen Bricillo. Soon enough, we'll find out how banged up he is, but it's almost laughable that this team is dealing with such a concern to begin the summer.
