Just what in the heck do the Patriots and Bill Belichick have in mind leading up to the NFL Draft? It's safe to say things have gone horribly for the Pats since Tom Brady left town, and they're in dire need for some playmakers on both sides of the ball. That's bad news for the NY Giants.
One of the Giants top NFL Draft targets is Boston College wideout Zay Flowers, who will be in East Rutherford on Wednesday for his pre-draft visit with Joe Schoen and Co. Unfortunately, Flowers recently wrapped up meeting with New England as well.
The Patriots could end up snagging Zay Flowers before the Giants in the first round
The buzz continues to grow that the Patriots could end up taking him in the first round of the NFL Draft, as NE holds the No. 14 overall pick. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba also expected to be taken before No. 25, the Giants missing out on Flowers as well would sting.
Flowers has seen his stock blow up since the NFL Combine. Not only did he showcase great speed and hands, but the BC product also put on about 13 pounds of muscle. He's been grinding this offseason in the weight room trying to erase the narrative that he's too small to take hits at the next level.
Come on now, Flowers is a beast despite checking in at 5-10, 183 pounds. Flowers clearly has the attention of Schoen and the rest of the front office. However, several other teams are eyeing him as well, with the Patriots on the list.
Belichick could end up surprising us all and taking Flowers with the No. 14 overall pick. If he does, that would quickly put an end to plenty of fans' hopes that Flowers will make plays for Daniel Jones next season. If Flowers is still on the board when Schoen is on the clock, then it could be way too tough for Big Blue to pass on him.
