Soon enough, the NY Giants are going to report for training camp. While the rookies will make their way to East Rutherford first, the veterans will be right behind them. The list of course includes pass-rusher Brian Burns, who is getting ready for his first season with the team.
Burns was the splash acquisition of the offseason and he's no question going to be a beast for new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Star inside linebacker Bobby Okereke is sure of that. While speaking with Kay Adams recently, Okereke delivered a take on Burns that's sure to fire up Giants Nation.
Bobby Okereke can't wait to make plays with Brian Burns for the Giants
"This guy's electric. This guy is a game changer. I can't wait until he puts on the jersey for game one and gets to play. He's a prolific player."Bobby Okereke on Brian Burns
Kayvon Thibodeaux is also pretty pumped up about Burns making his way to town, as these two could easily form one of the best pass-rush tag teams out there. Okereke is going to have a close-up look of those two going to work, which he'll surely enjoy - they'll make life easier for him.
Okereke is coming off a sensational first season with the Giants, providing NY with the kind of ILB talent they've been missing for quite some time. Both him and Micah McFadden will be the leaders for the inside 'backers, while Burns and Thibodeaux will lead the charge on the outside.
On paper, this group is loaded with potential, but they're going to have to show they can live up to the hype once Week 1 gets here. A date with the Vikings is on the way and everyone is optimistic a dream debut will be on the way for Burns. If he posts 1-2 sacks in that game, loads of Big Blue supporters will be pretty dang ecstatic. Okereke won't be too surprised if it happens too.
