During the first week of OTAs for the NY Giants, countless eyes have been on inside linebacker Bobby Okereke and rightfully so. Earlier this offseason, the stud 'backer signed a four-year, $40 million deal with the team. This was considered a home-run move from general manager Joe Schoen.
It goes without saying, but the LB play for the Giants was awful last season, which is why people are so excited to see Okereke in town. Now, fans are only going to be even more fired up knowing that there's multiple fellow LBs who have not only been showing promise at OTAs, but they've been impressing Okereke as well.
Bobby Okereke is ready to make a splash for the NY Giants this season
It's great to see that Okereke has liked what he's seen thus far from Micah McFadden, Jarrad Davis and Darrian Beavers. Of all those guys, Beavers is the one who we think is the most intriguing player heading into the '23 campaign.
Beavers was all set to see significant action during the '22 season, but a torn ACL suffered during the preseason put an end to his rookie year before it could really even get started. He's been working tirelessly to get himself back to 100 percent and a lot of NY supporters are ready to see what he can get done.
With Okereke, there's surely a lot of pressure on him to step up as the leader for the LBs room. He's easily the biggest name for the unit and he's already said he's jacked up to make plays with Kayvon Thibodeaux, Azeez Ojulari and others.
Okereke should be able to do wonders working with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale as well. This upcoming season has the makings of a special one for Okereke and the G-Men, especially if Davis, McFadden and Beavers can elevate their game.
