5 bold predictions for the NY Giants TNF battle with San Francisco
It's time to see what this team is made of. The celebrations are over for the NY Giants after recording their historic come-from-behind win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2: it's now time to focus on the powerful San Francisco 49ers.
These two teams will face off for this week's edition of Thursday Night Football and there's surely a lot of pressure on Big Blue to record a strong showing. Which version of the G-Men will show up for this meeting, the second-half team vs. Arizona or the first half one? In this piece, we have our bold predictions for the contest, which includes the defensive front finally stepping up:
5. Dexter Lawrence will post two sacks for the Giants defense
Normally, this wouldn't be very bold at all, but the Giants pass-rushers haven't lived up to the hype thus far this season. We are two weeks into the campaign and Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari are yet to record a single sack. How in the world is this even possible for them?
While Brock Purdy isn't a superstar signal-caller, he can make you pay if he's given too much time in the pocket to scan the field. The 49ers are loaded with offensive playmakers, with the list of course including Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey and others. The last thing Wink Martindale can let happen is for Purdy to get comfortable.
With Ojulari's status up in the air for this contest, look for Lawrence, aka Sexy Dexy, to take charge and do what he does best: make magic happen. Lawrence looked fantastic against the Cardinals on Sunday and we have a feeling he's in line for another head-turning game this week. Could two Lawrence sacks of Purdy be on the way? We think so.
