No one can argue that All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas is one of the most important pieces for the NY Giants today, tomorrow and for the future. Thomas makes an unreal impact when he's out on the field for the G-Men. But, should he even be practicing this week and getting ready for the Patriots?
In the 31-19 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, a lot of people couldn't help but notice that Thomas was slow to get up on a few plays and he was moving gingerly at times. As it turns out, per The Athletic's Dan Duggan, Thomas is playing with a sprained MCL he suffered in Dallas.
Thomas, who has missed most of the year with a hamstring injury, is one tough dude and he's fighting through the pain to try and help this team post some wins. However, what is Brian Daboll thinking? The second-year head coach needs to step in immediately and rest his superstar hoss.
Andrew Thomas dealing with a knee injury is a major problem for the NY Giants
The Giants already lost one star player in Daniel Jones to a serious knee injury - do we really need to risk things with Thomas in what's a lost season? Following the win over Washington, the Giants are 3-8 on the campaign. They need a miracle to get back to the playoffs. Come on, it's not going to happen.
This weekend, Big Blue has another winnable game against the New England Patriots on the way, but a lot of NY supporters are calling for Daboll to rest Thomas for the Week 12 tilt. Keep in mind that the Giants have a Bye in Week 13 and then have a Monday Night Football dance with the Packers in Week 14.
That would give Thomas a lot of time to rest and get his knee healthy. There's worry that if Thomas keeps on playing with this bum knee, it could worsen and end up being a long-term problem. No one and we mean no one wants to see that happen. We admire Thomas giving his all to help out the Giants, but he has no business playing on Sunday at MetLife.
