With quarterback Davis Webb off to Denver to begin his coaching career - good luck trying to get Russell Wilson back on track dude - the NY Giants and general manager Joe Schoen are now in need of a new QB3 to study under Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor.
In an ideal situation, Schoen will be able to either find someone in the sixth/seventh round, or sign an undrafted free agent. One kid in particular who could fit the description is Houston quarterback Clayton Tune. This guy was born to throw the ball around. According to Ian Rapoport, he'll be making his way to East Rutherford for a pre-draft visit as well.
Houston QB Clayton Tune will visit with the NY Giants and he could be a solid QB3
Tune spent the past five seasons with the Houston Cougars and his stats jump off the page. For his career, he threw for 11,994 yards while playing for Houston, tossing for 104 touchdowns. During his senior campaign in 2022, the 6-3, 215-pounder completed 334-of-496 pass attempts (67.3 percent completion rate) for 4,074 yards and 40 TDs.
Tune is receiving plenty of interest, as he also has visits scheduled with the Saints, Browns, Steelers, Bucs, Rams and Texans, according to Rapoport. The gunslinger isn't going to hear his name called on Day 1 or Day 2 of the draft, but a lot of teams could be ready to take him on Day 3 - no one is expecting the youngster to step in and be a starter right away.
However, with the G-Men indeed needing a third quarterback moving forward, Tune could be the right guy for the job. There are certainly other priorities for the Giants during draft weekend, but Tune sure is an intriuging target. He could end up being a welcome addition for the QBs room.
