With Aaron Rodgers making his debut for the New York Jets this weekend, he's no question the talk of the town. Rodgers is being labeled as the savior for football in New York. Well, do we need to remind you that there's another quarterback in East Rutherford who is coming off the best season of his career?
We're of course talking about NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who is ready to get Big Blue back to the postseason this winter. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Jones was asked about being in the same city as a future Hall of Famer in Rodgers. Respectfully, Danny Dimes hasn't thought about it at all:
Daniel Jones isn't focusing on the outside Aaron Rodgers noise in New York
"Yeah, I don't put a whole lot of thought into that. I'm focused on being the best quarterback for this team that I can be and doing everything I can to win games. I've got a ton of respect for Aaron Rodgers and their team, but I'm just focused on what we're doing."Daniel Jones
Jones is calm, cool and collected with Week 1 of the regular season sneaking up on us. The signal-caller has other things to worry about than Rodgers and the Jets. Rodgers is stealing all of the headlines in the Big Apple these days. That's good news for the G-Men.
The pressure is going to be sky-high for AR12 to live up to the hype this season. If anything, that's taking a lot of attention off of Jones, who just signed his mega-deal earlier this year. When these two teams face off this weekend, Jones will watch from the sidelines, while Rodgers will be taking the field.
In the regular season, these two teams are ready to go to battle on Oct. 29. People will continue to claim that Rodgers is the best QB in East Rutherford, but don't forget that Jones and Co. took down Rodgers in North London last year. That was an upset for the ages, no doubt.
