Just when you thought the 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets couldn't get more devastating for the NY Giants, this latest news just dropped. Daniel Jones was ruled out leading up to the weekend, but it was announced on Monday morning he has been cleared for contact.

However, it turns out Danny Dimes was cleared by the Big Blue doctors much earlier than we all thought. Head coach Brian Daboll said that Jones was actually cleared on Sunday BEFORE the showdown with Gang Green. However, since he was ruled out Friday morning, he couldn't suit up. This is just wild:

Daniel Jones cleared for contact and he should be able to start vs. the Raiders

Not only that, but Daboll didn't find out about Jones until after the G-Men absolutely choked late in the game vs. the Jets. This just doesn't make any sense at all - you'd think Daboll would be the first person to know about his starting quarterback, who signed a $160 million extension this offseason.

As we mentioned above, though, Jones was ruled out earlier in the week, so even if Daboll would have found out before kickoff, nothing could have been done in terms of Danny Dimes being able to get back out on the field. If he was this close, why rule him out two days early?

Jones has been out since the Week 5 loss to the Dolphins with a neck injury. The Giants are 1-2 in the past three weeks, but come on, they should be 2-1 and they're a couple of plays away from being 3-0. Things somehow keep getting worse for NY.

You'd think Jones getting cleared for contact would make everyone happy, but the way his status was handled last week was Joe Judge/Dave Gettleman kind of stuff. People are starting to turn on Daboll and Joe Schoen and something needs to happen fast for folks to start believing in this organization again. Last season's playoff campaign now feels like it was 20 years ago.
