Daniel Jones injury update shouldn't give Giants fans hope he'll play vs. Jets

It's not looking likely that Danny Dimes will suit up this weekend

We are three days away from the massive showdown at MetLife Stadium between the NY Giants and New York Jets, but no one knows whether or not quarterback Daniel Jones will be able to go or not. Jones has been out of action since suffering a neck injury vs. the Dolphins in Week 5.

However, the fifth-year signal-caller has been able to practice on a limited basis. What's holding him back from being a full participant? Jones is still waiting for clearance from the team doctors. However, another day has passed with Danny Dimes not being cleared for contact. Because of this, it's starting to feel like it will once again be the Tyrod Taylor show vs. the Jets:

Daniel Jones status for Week 8 isn't looking good for the Giants

We understand the G-Men wanting to be careful with Jones, but what in the heck is taking so long for him to take things to the next level in terms of his practice regimen? Jones is able to throw, lift and run, but he's yet to jump that final hurdle.

With the showdown with Gang Green right around the corner, the feeling is Jones will likely miss his third consecutive game and Taylor will get the nod on Sunday afternoon. Taylor has been strong for the Giants in recent weeks, especially in the 14-7 win over the Commanders.

Last weekend, Taylor completed 18-of-29 pass attempts for 279 yards and touchdown passes to both Darren Waller and Saquon Barkley. The Jets have one of the best defenses in the league, so Taylor, should he start, must bring his best to the field in order for NYG to have a shot.

That's all assuming the Giants don't get good news on Jones' health by Friday or Saturday. All this uncertainty around Danny Dimes is a bit frustrating for the Giants fanbase. We may have to wait at least another week to see him with the pads on, though.
