This is never going to happen

Not in a million years. Not for all the money in the world - okay, maybe that'd get things done. Right now, the NY Giants are a bit down in the dumps thanks to their 1-3 record. This team is only a few plays away from being 3-1, but costly mistakes have them looking like the worst team in the NFC East.

With the trade deadline coming in early November, it's already looking like Joe Schoen and Co. are going to be sellers. Several players have been mentioned as potential options, including Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt - could the Chiefs come calling?

Over on defense, maybe Azeez Ojulari could be on the move. One player who is 100 percent off limits is without a doubt All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. Despite that, Minnesota Vikings fans have Lawrence's name trending on Twitter because they think they can trade for Sexy Dexy. Yeah, never going to happen.

A Giants-Vikings trade idea for Dexter Lawrence is simply absurd

That post is only one example of many Vikings supporters calling for their front office to get something done. On the other side of things, Giants fans couldn't be more against this and rightfully so. It wasn't long ago that Lawrence was given a $90 million extension following his All-Pro campaign in 2022.

Last season in the brutal 6-11 showing for the Giants, No. 97 was the best player on the field and was named an All-Pro once again. He's the heart and soul of this team and easily the most consistent standout. This is something Schoen knows all too well, as does Brian Daboll.

This isn't Madden where wild trades are just going to be completed ahead of the deadline. If the Giants lose every game over the next month, then sure, perhaps Schoen will look to add as much draft capital as possible.

However, Lawrence can't be touched. He's an elite talent and a homegrown one too. He's got an unreal future and he's going to be making plays for a long time in East Rutherford and the NFC East, not the NFC North.
