As the NFL Draft looms closer, rumors continue to swirl around the NY Giants and what general manager Joe Schoen will do with the No. 6 overall draft pick. In recent days, there has been buzz that Big Blue is considering trading up in the draft to land North Carolina quarterback prospect Drake Maye to be the eventual replacement for Daniel Jones.

While the Giants would like to preserve draft capital, the front office loves Maye's game and could trade up to No. 3 to select him. Maye has taken note of these rumors, and the interest appears to be mutual. Could we be looking at the next face of the Big Apple?

Drake Maye has nothing but good things to say about Brian Daboll and the Giants

"I think (the meeting with the Giants) went great. I met with them at the Combine first, and then they've been great ever since. Coach Daboll, you've seen what he's done with quarterbacks. They've got a good thing going."

Not only did Maye acknowledge his contact with the Giants, but he even talked about Brian Daboll and what he has done with talented QBs in the past. He was referring to Daboll's tenure with the Buffalo Bills when he helped develop Josh Allen into a star, and he is now one of the best players in the league.

A projected Top 5 pick in the draft, Maye threw for 7,929 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions across his past two seasons in Chapel Hill. The 6-5, 220-pound standout also displayed his versatility on the ground, running for 16 scores during that span. The physical similarities between him and Allen are uncanny.

The QB-needy Commanders are expected to select a gunslinger with the No. 2 overall pick. Both the Giants and Vikings are candidates to move up for a QB like Maye, Jayden Daniels, or JJ McCarthy. However, it feels like Maye is Schoen's guy if NY decides to move on from Danny Dimes.

Only time will tell, but the UNC product seems like the perfect fit for Big Blue. It goes without saying that Schoen will explore multiple trade-up scenarios for the G-Men, and Maye could become the next NY signal-caller at the right price. Only time will tell if that happens or not.
