Let us start off by saying we never, and we mean never, want to see former NY Giants star running back Saquon Barkley go down. Despite him playing for Philly, we're not just going to forget about the six years he made a difference for the G-Men and in the community.

However, if there was one major knock for the two-time Pro Bowler, it was that he just couldn't consistently stay healthy while in East Rutherford. It was no question a big reason why general manager Joe Schoen didn't want to break the bank to re-sign him.

Now, the Eagles are the ones who are going to have to worry about whether or not No. 26 can stay close to 100 percent. Unfortunately, the first minor worry has arrived for them, as Barkley sat out the end of the most recent practice session due to what appeared to be a lower back issue:

A quick look on social media shows plenty of Philly supporters are quite concerned, with some saying, 'and so it begins' with the standout speedster not being able to finish out practice. Per ESPN's Brandon Lee Gowton, Barkley was getting stretched out and he wasn't on the field for the final 11-on-11 work.

This could all prove to be a precaution and Barkley will be just fine. However, the fact that he's a little banged up is something we've got to bring up just because Giants fans were so used to seeing it throughout his career with NY.

Barkley of course suffered his torn ACL in Week 2 of 2020, which was brutal to see. In 2019, he missed multiple games due to a high-ankle sprain. In 2021, another ankle sprain forced him to miss action. He was fully healthy in 2022, rushing for a career-high 1,312 yards.

However, last campaign, he got hurt late in the Week 2 win over the Cardinals. He would go on to miss three games, but all this just goes to show that staying fully fit was a problem for him. Howie Roseman and Co. took a big chance in signing him to a monster three-year contract and the expectation is that he'll live up to his deal.

Right now, though, everyone in Pennsylvania is going to be hoping that there's nothing to see here and this is just a small scare with his back. Giants fans aren't going to be rooting for him to be injured either. The only thing they want is for Barkley to be held in check twice a year when Dexter Lawrence and Co. are trying to bring him down.
