After the thrilling 21-15 win over the Browns in Week 3, the NY Giants have a quick turnaround to take on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys for Thursday Night Football. Both teams are 1-2, though the G-Men are coming off the win in Cleveland, while Dallas was dominated for most of their loss against the Ravens.
One of the main takeaways from the Dallas loss was that they couldn't do much of anything with their ground game, while Derrick Henry ran all over them in Arlington. Why does this matter for the Giants? Well, the early weather report for Thursday night indicates that there are going to be rain showers all night. That's bad news for both team's passing game, but NY indeed could have the advantage with the rushing attack.
Giants vs. Cowboys is expected to feature a lot of rain on Thursday night
As things stand, the temperatures are expected to be in the low 70s for kickoff, with showers. Things aren't going to let up either. This could force Brian Daboll to take a step back in focusing so much on having Daniel Jones try to get the ball to Malik Nabers so much. Nabers was brilliant in Sunday's victory, posting 78 receiving yards and two scores.
Devin Singletary had a costly fumble, but he rushed for 65 yards and a score. As a team, the G-Men recorded 112 rushing yards. On the other side of things, Dallas finished with only 51 rushing yards for Baltimore, while Henry rushed for 151, while Lamar Jackson added 87 more. Baltimore ran for 274 yards against the Cowboys. Bad day at the office for defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
The Giants are looking to beat the Cowboys for the first time since Daboll became the team's head coach. Daboll is going to have to get creative with his play-calling if the turf at MetLife Field is wet and his QB has trouble tossing the pigskin. Focusing on the run-game could prove to make the difference and we'd give the advantage to the home team between the two sides.
