With the NY Giants at 1-3 on the year, plenty of people are going after head coach Brian Daboll. This team is only a few plays away from being 2-2 on the year - heck, they could even be 3-1 if they lived up to their potential. However, entering Week 5, this team indeed only has one victory on the board and that's on Daboll.

Following the Thursday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys, talking heads across the country are racing to get jabs in on the third-year head coach. This includes ESPN's Chris Canty, who didn't hold back with his criticism. Per Canty, Daboll is 'toast' and quarterback Daniel Jones has a better chance of returning next season. This is not what anyone wants to hear with 13 games left in the campaign:

ESPN's Chris Canty thinks Brian Daboll will be fired after this season

At this point two years ago, Daboll was beloved all over New York and New Jersey. The Giants were winning games and taking down quality teams too. Now, though, things have flipped. Big Blue went 6-11 in 2023 and the nightmare start to this campaign has plenty of people losing patience.

There's no question that this group has improved from what we saw at this point in '23, but all that matters at the end of the day is if the squad wins or not. Thus far, some costly Daboll decisions have come back to bite him through the first four games.

As for Jones, he played well against Dallas and nearly did enough to lead his team to an upset victory. However, he still can't throw the ball consistently downfield, while his wideouts posted some nightmare drops too. The expectation is that he'll be gone next season.

However, there's no way the Giants would keep Jones and his massive cap hit and let Daboll go, right? We'd like to think Daboll is still the right man for the job, but more and more people are calling for both him and Joe Schoen to be let go this offseason.

A lot can change before '24 comes to a close, but winning is going to help everyone involved. Is Daboll to blame for some mistakes? Absolutely, but it's way too early to say he should lose his job. Should NY finish the year 4-13 or something like that, then there might be a tough conversation to be had in January, though.
