We know that the 2024 season hasn't even started yet, but leave it to guys like ESPN's Field Yates to already get us hyped up for next April. Yates just dropped his first NFL Mock Draft of the cycle and it's one that's surely going to raise a lot of eyebrows for NY Giants fans.

In his mock, Yates thinks the New England Patriots will be the ones to take home the No. 1 overall pick. However, Yates also thinks general manager Schoen is going to be ready to move mountains to trade up and land a Daniel Jones replacement. That player will turn out to be Georgia standout Carson Beck.

ESPN's mock draft has the Giants taking Carson Beck with the No. 1 overall pick

"Daniel Jones has no guaranteed money left on his contract past this season, and if the Giants finish with a record commensurate with the sixth pick, it's safe to assume they'd be in the quarterback market. Beck -- my early QB1 for the class -- is a silky-smooth pocket passer with excellent 6-foot-4 size and enough mobility to navigate inside and outside the pocket. He's coming off a season in which he finished third in the FBS in passing yards (3,941) and fourth in completion percentage (72.4%)."

Yates is predicting the Giants to hold the No. 6 pick, which they'd then include in a trade package to New England for the top spot. Perhaps adding a first-rounder in 2026 and a second-rounder in 2025 will be enough to get the job done?

Who knows, but it's looking more and more likely that Jones is entering his final campaign in East Rutherford. The Giants have an out after this season, which Schoen will be ready to take unless Jones is able to play out of this world this season.

Following his two-interception performance in the loss to the Texans recently, not many people in East Rutherford have a ton of faith he'll be able to ball out in '24. If he struggles again, Schoen and Co. will surely cut him next offseason and then go all-in on a new QB1 of the future.

That was in the works this offseason, as the Giants were big fans of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels. On draft night, reports leaked NY was trying to trade with NE so they could bring home Maye. That didn't happen, with the former UNC standout getting selected by the Pats. Come next draft, though, Schoen may be ready to convince New England to get some business done, with Beck potentially being someone he goes after.
