For a second, NY Giants fans were convinced that Landon Collins was going to be making his way back to town. Where in the world was this coming from? Well, Collins posted on his Twitter that a reunion was in the works and he teased his return to Big Blue. NY supporters were fired up over the news, thinking No. 21 indeed was re-signing with the team.

That's not going to happen, though. While everyone was thrilled with the updates on Twitter, Collins took to Instagram to claim that his account had been hacked and no call was on the way for him to make plays again for Brian Daboll and Co. So much for that:

Landon Collins won't be re-signing with the NY Giants despite rumors

Collins was selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. After that, he went on to post four memorable seasons for the G-Men, highlighted by three trips to the Pro Bowl and a First-Team All-Pro honor in 2016. That season, Collins finished with a career-high 125 tackles, and a head-turning five interceptions - one of those picks was taken back to the house for six.

After breaking hearts and signing with Washington, spending three seasons with NY's NFC East rival, Collins returned to East Rutherford in 2022 and appeared in six games for Daboll, posting one start. His '22 included the unforgettable pick-six against the Colts in Week 17. It was an epic play for the veteran.

With his versatility, Collins was able to play at either safety or linebacker for the Giants in his second stint with the team. That was the thought for a potential third time around with New York, but it turned out the idea of him suiting up in blue again was too good to be true. A lot of people liked the idea of Collins being a mentor for the younger guys on defense.

With the 0-2 start, who knows, maybe Collins could have lit a fire under the guys on D as a whole. Unfortunately, a signing is not in the works and the excitement surrounding that idea only lasted a couple of hours.
