The idea of former NY Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale joining a team rival had people sick this month. From the moment it was announced that Martdinale, due to his issues with head man Brian Daboll, was resigning from his position, speculation arrived that he could move to Philly.

The Eagles were in need of a new defensive coordinator this offseason and Martindale seemed like a top target for Nick Sirianni to bring in. Thankfully, that's not going to happen. On Thursday morning, things were finalized between the Eagles and Vic Fangio to lead the team's defense. With that, Martindale won't be headed to the City of Brotherly Love after all. Thank goodness for that.

Vic Fangio has been hired as the Eagles new defensive coordinator

The Fangio move from the Eagles didn't take long at all. On Wednesday, surprising news came in that the Dolphins and Fangio had decided to part ways. Not only that, but the wheels were already in motion for Fangio to join Sirianni. On Thursday, the pen was put to paper on a new deal.

Eagles fans are excited, while Giants Nation is relieved. There truly was a lot of concern that Martindale, who had spent the past two seasons with Daboll in East Rutherford, could become the Eagles new DC. Revenge would have been on his mind twice next season, as he and Coach Dabes don't like one another.

Throughout the offseason, nothing but drama has followed the Giants, especially with how things ended between Daboll and Martindale. People remain stunned that Martindale flipped out on Daboll and cursed him out while resigning.

Since then, Daboll has been on the hunt to find a replacement, with several candidates interviewing for the gig. The Giants are yet to hire a new DC and Martindale hasn't found a new job either. Thankfully, we now know for sure that his next stop won't be with one of the Giants biggest rivals.
