From the moment it was announced the NY Giants had signed veteran offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, the expectation was that he'd likely take over at right tackle for Evan Neal. Neal, a former No. 7 overall pick, hasn't lived up to the hype in his first two seasons.

With Eluemunor's experience and versatility, his two-year deal was celebrated widely - again, a lot of people assumed he had right tackle written all over him. That may not be the case, though. Per Art Stapleton, his belief is that Neal will be given another chance to show he can lock down the RT spot and Eluemunor will take one of the starting guard spots. Is this a mistake?

The Giants are expected to give Evan Neal a final chance at right tackle

We've got to say, this is a bit disappointing. During his rookie year, Neal was brutal to watch. Then in 2023, he didn't improve at all, with it looking like he got worse at times. The potential is there for him to be a stud, but a lot of people were hoping the new chance Daboll would give him would be at guard.

However, Coach Dabes and Co. aren't ready to give up on the youngster just yet. If Neal ends up winning the job, then the projected offensive line for Big Blue would be, from left to right, Andrew Thomas, Jon Runyan Jr., John Michael Schmitz, Eluemunor and Neal.

That's a far better unit than what we saw last campaign, as the G-Men gave up a league-worst 85 sacks in 2023. As Stapleton noted, however, if Neal struggles, then Daboll could pull the plug very quickly and move Eluemunor to the outside.

Would Neal then be given a shot at guard, or would he enjoy his Sundays watching the Giants while on the sidelines? Everything remains up in the air, but Neal not making the switch to guard from the start is not what we were hoping for. Neal could prove everyone wrong, but Eluemunor at RT not long into the '24 season could be what we end up seeing.
