It's got to be nice for the NY Giants to be on the other side of things for once. On Monday night, the G-Men were big-time underdogs going up against the Packers, but Tommy DeVito and Co. were able to post a stunning 24-22 win. After the loss, Packers head man Matt LeFleur was furious.
However, did he take things too far? One of the key plays of the game came in the third quarter when the Giants punted the ball to Green Bay, but Keisean Nixon muffed the punt, scooped it up, tried to run again and was stripped by Darnay Holmes. The Giants recovered the ball and Saquon Barkley scored shortly after to put NY ahead. This was a terrible play from Nixon and LaFleur called him out for it:
Matt LaFleur ripping Keisean Nixon has Packers fans talking
""Yeah, absolutely. You can't do that. You're kind of in a panic mode anyway when you muff the ball. Not the smartest play in that situation.""LaFleur on Nixon's terrible fumble
It's hard to argue with LaFleur here, but this feels like the young head coach threw his player under the bus right after his team suffered a heartbreaking loss on the road. A lot of Packers fans aren't happy, while a lot of others think LaFleur was right to call out Nixon like this.
The week before, Nixon was a hero for the Packers, picking off Patrick Mahomes in a key situation - Green Bay went on to stun Mahomes and the Chiefs. During Monday Night Football, though, Nixon had a game to forget.
Meanwhile for the Giants, they're now 5-8 on the year and riding the high of a three-game winning streak. A lot of people assumed Green Bay would have their way with New York, but once again Big Blue was able to pull off a sweet upset win. Brian Daboll is all smiles, but the same surely can't be said for LaFleur.
