In the blink of an eye, the 2023 campaign has come to a close for NY Giants rookie Bryce Ford-Wheaton. Battling to make a roster spot, the UDFA out of West Virginia went down with an injury early on against the Jets on Saturday night.
On Sunday, Brian Daboll confirmed that the 6-4, 220-pounder had suffered a torn ACL. Just brutal. While Ford-Wheaton was surely down in the dumps after getting the news, that doesn't mean that he's lost focus on his bright future. He made that much clear with a special message for Giants fans who have been showing him support over the past couple of days:
Never asked God for an easy life, instead I asked him to give me the strength to overcome any obstacle.

Appreciate everyone’s support, it’s going to be one hell of a story. See you next year big blue 🙏🏾💙 pic.twitter.com/ZIXB8KxS43
NY Giants WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton was placed on IR with a torn ACL
it really is unfortunate that this happened to Ford-Wheaton with the start of the regular season almost here. Now, though, he'll be focused on getting his knee back to 100 percent so that he can try and make plays for this offense in the future.
Ford-Wheaton had plenty of buzz surrounding his name this summer and there was a great chance of him making the 53-man roster. However, he'll now have to hope that he can be in a position to make the roster at this point next summer.
Sterling Shepard will reportedly earn a spot on the 53-man roster
One player we know who will be suited up to take on the Cowboys on Sept. 10 is veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard. There had been some speculation that Shep could get released this week ahead of the final roster cuts, but Ryan Dunleavy is reporting that won't happen.
My understanding from asking around is Sterling Shepard will have a spot on #Giants roster.

Not a surprise. Deserves one based on his play, not to mention intangibles. But there was some confusion after he played w roster bubble guys last night. https://t.co/x0OhJ2o5RI
Shepard is coming off the torn ACL he suffered against the Cowboys last season, which came after he tore his Achilles the year before. Shepard is a fan favorite and plenty of people would have been heartbroken if he were to be released. That's not going to be the case. We'll see what kind of a splash the vet can make in '23.
