At safety, Dane Belton has become a bit of a forgotten man for the NY Giants this summer. With veteran Bobby McCain and viral-sensation Jason Pinnock stepping up, Belton was hoping to remind people of how good he can be during joint practices with the Lions. Mission accomplished.

On Wednesday, Belton recorded the play of the day. On this particular sequence, Jared Goff fired a quick pass to David Montgomery. Belton chased him from behind, though, and stripped the ball away from him in a flash. Not only that, but Belton was able to come away with the ball at the same time. Goodness me, this was awesome:

If you gasped at that from Belton, you're not alone. This was on the money from the second-year defensive back. It's also something that defensive coordinator Wink Martindale must have loved, but also taken note of.

Belton was no stranger to making big plays for the G-Men last campaign, as he saw plenty of significant action. During his rookie season, the 6-1, 205-pounder appeared in 15 games for the Giants, posting five starts.

He's still in a battle to earn the starting job next to fellow safety Xavier McKinney. Both McCain and Pinnock are hoping to beat Belton out, but things sure are going to get interesting there, especially with preseason action right around the corner.

Come Friday night, the Giants and Lions will get back on the gridiron, this time at Ford Field. Belton will be among the countless young players hoping to make a splash. He'll surely enter the first preseason game of the summer with a ton of confidence after what he was able to get done on Wednesday.
