Giants DB Tyler Nubin has gold response to fans roasting him over yacht photo
This kid is going to fit in just fine in New York. From the moment it was announced the NY Giants were using their second-round pick on Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin, people have been excited about what the youngster will be able to get done for this defense.
As it turns out, Nubin is already making Giants Nation happy off the field, while making a lot of us laugh too. That's because Nubin recently posted a photo of him and his friends on a yacht, bringing back terrible memories from the 'boat party' for Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and others in 2016. We all know how that ended. Well, people quickly let Nubin know of his mistake, causing him to respond in the best way possible:
Tyler Nubin hilariously called himself out over a boat photo on social media
That's too good. Hey Tyler, feel free to celebrate your NFL dreams coming true, but stay off the boats for now! Back in '16, OBJ and Co. decided to enjoy a boat party before the postseason showdown against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. That game was a nightmare, with the Giants suffering a terrible loss. Yup, the boat curse has followed this team ever since.
This is something perhaps Nubin wasn't too familiar with, but he sure is now. In all seriousness, it's great to see Nubin already engaging with the fan base like this, as there are high hopes for the rookie to perform at a high level now that he's being asked to replace Xavier McKinney.
Nubin was the highest-rated safety leading up to the NFL Draft and it's easy to see why. He was a ball-hawk for the Gophers during his time at Minnesota, finishing with 13 career interceptions. Last season, the 6-2, 210-pounder posted five INTs.
With Nubin being the first safety taken off the board, he's obviously going to have a ton of pressure to live up to the hype. Before camp and the regular season arrives, though, he's winning people over with his bubbling personality. Things got started with him sharing an awesome story over his first reaction with Dexter Lawrence:
Soon enough, Nubin will put the pads on and show everyone that the Giants made a brilliant decision in taking him in the second round. Both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have spoken quite highly of him and you already know new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen is excited to coach him up too. For now, yeah, no more boat pics please. That's all we ask of the young man.
