This is what the NFL Draft is all about. When the NY Giants announced they'd be taking stud safety Tyler Nubin with the No. 47 overall pick, fans immediately thought about him taking the starting job left vacant by Xavier McKinney.

However, as excited as Nubin is for his future with the G-Men, he wasn't thinking about Week 1 just yet. While speaking to the media, an emotional Nubin revealed that he was crying tears of joy for more than 30 minutes after he got off the phone with Joe Schoen. The clip of his talk with Schoen and Brian Daboll is amazing:

Okay, how great is this? Giants fans already have big plans for this kid in the secondary, as he'll be an instant starter for new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. However, knowing he had this reaction to being able to call himself a Giant now makes him such an easy guy to root for. Keep in mind that Nubin is also a complete and total stud, as he was the highest-rated safety by multiple scouts and analysts leading up to the draft.

This past season for Minnesota, the 6-2, 210-pounder finished with four pass deflections and five interceptions. He's known for his versatility and also being a sure tackler. Missed open-field tackles won't be an issue for Nubin, which is fantastic for this defense as a whole.

Come the start of the season, he's going to look to make a big-time splash for Bowen and Daboll. Months before that first pro game of his career gets here, Nubin should have confidence in the fact that plenty of NY supporters could not be more excited about his potential with the team. Add in the fact that the Giants were able to add cornerback Andru Phillips in the third round and it was a solid Day 2 overall for Schoen and Co.
