A lot of NY Giants fans out there still can't believe the disrespect shown toward Big Blue legend Carl Banks earlier this week. In case you missed it, Banks hopped on WFAN with Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata to discuss the G-Men and former No. 5 overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux.
The three couldn't get on the same page, as Licata and Tierney are big-time Thibodeaux haters. One thing led to another and Banks was actually kicked off the program. Seriously? People were irate this happened. Leave it to the G-Men to back Banks in the best way possible, as they trolled Licata and Tierney in hilarious fashion on social media:
Carl Banks and the Giants got the last laugh on WFAN over Kayvon Thibodeaux
That's a mic drop from the Giants if we've ever seen one. The guys over at WFAN didn't just choose to hang up on some random guy named Mike from Hoboken or something. Instead, they did so with a true hero for fans: a guy who won two Super Bowls and is a member of the Giants Ring of Honor.
Come on! This whole mess started because Licata and Tierney didn't like the fact that Banks was trying to tell them 'how to run their show.' Banks wasn't being disrespectful, he was simply saying they need to give the Thibodeaux hate a break.
Banks has been quick to defend the former first-round pick and it's easy to see why. Banks was a beast of a pass-rusher in his prime and he sees a ton of potential in Thibodeaux's game. Thus far this season, the second-year outside 'backer has 5.5 sacks to his name.
He finished with only four last year. Thibodeaux looked fantastic in the 14-7 win over the Commanders, but it still wasn't enough to impress the team over at WFAN. Banks doesn't care about that and neither does Thibodeaux. In the future, WFAN should think twice before treating an NY great like this.
