The long wait appears to be over for NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Danny Dimes has been out since Week 5 due to the neck injury he suffered against the Miami Dolphins, but the major news from this week has been that he's been cleared for contact.

Jones is expected to be a full participant at practice on Wednesday, which will be a great sign for his availability for the Week 9 dance with the Las Vegas Raiders. With that said, Jones is quite confident that he'll be playing in this one, which is of course fantastic news for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen.

Daniel Jones is set to start for the NY Giants on Sunday vs. the Raiders

Jones has been missed, with NY going 1-2 without him. Tyrod Taylor was able to lift the Giants past the Commanders, 14-7, in Week 7, but he suffered a serious rib injury vs. the Jets and he's now considered week-to-week.

With Taylor injured, it led to Tommy DeVito taking over under center against the Jets. DeVito, who signed with the Giants as an UDFA this offseason, finished with -1 passing yards and only completed 2-of-7 pass attempts. Those stats alone show how badly Jones is needed back for this team. Fortunately, barring a setback, we should see Jones ready to rock in Sin City this weekend.

Dexter Lawrence named PFF Defensive Player of the Week

Kayvon Thibodeaux (three sacks) has received a ton of props for his showing last Sunday and rightfully so, but don't forget about the historic performance from Dexter Lawrence. The star nose tackle could not be stopped on the inside, as he posted 15 pressures against the Jets. That's an insane number and it's now tied for the most in a single game. Goodness:

Lawrence was named the PFF Defensive Player of the Week and rightfully so. Sexy Dexy may feel a little down in the dumps right now with Leonard Williams being traded to the Seahawks, but hopefully this national attention brings a smile to his face. Lawrence is easily one of the best defensive tackles in the game and he's been playing on another level this season. Thank goodness he's with the G-Men.
