In what turned out to be a fun week for the NY Giants, there's no question that things got off to a slow start for quarterback Daniel Jones. On Tuesday, Danny Dimes and the Big Blue offense posted arguably their worst practice of the summer.

Luckily, Jones was able to bounce back in a big way on Wednesday, putting on a show in the second of two joint practices with the Detroit Lions. Jones reminded people of why the G-Men gave him a four-year extension, with Isaiah Hodgins loving what he saw out of his signal-caller too.

Hodgins, back for his first full campaign with the Giants after joining the team last November, was blown away with how his QB looked. If anything, Jones should have plenty of confidence leading up to the regular season:

NY Giants QB Daniel Jones is ready to silence all of his critics this fall

"(Jones was) going crazy, firing on all cylinders. He was distributing the ball to everybody. I’m pretty sure everybody had a couple of catches. He looked great out there. He was decisive, making great decisions, great throws. Hat’s off to him, he bounced back.”"

That quote from Hodgins is sure to bring a smile to your face. The Giants will take on the Lions in the preseason opener on Friday night, but it's unlikely we'll see Jones take the field, unless Brian Daboll has a surprise or two on the way.

Regardless, the excitement for Jones' regular season keeps on getting higher. Big Blue Nation can't wait to see what he, Hodgins and the rest of the offense will be able to get done this fall and winter. It could be a year to remember for the offense.

Former Giants LB Jaylon Smith signs with the New Orleans Saints

With the G-Men in need of some inside linebacker help, there was some speculation that potentially Joe Schoen would bring back Jaylon Smith. Well, that's not going to happen. On Thursday, the veteran 'backer agreed to terms on a new contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Last campaign for the Giants, Smith appeared in 13 games, posting 11 starts. He finished with 88 total tackles and one sack.
