From the second it was confirmed that Daniel Jones tore his ACL and he's done for the season, the speculation has been flying that his days as the NY Giants quarterback of the future are over. Countless people believe that Joe Schoen is going to draft his own QB next April.

Both CBS and Pro Football Focus have released NFL Mock Drafts for 2024 that have Schoen trading up to land Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick. Other players being linked to the Giants include Michael Penix Jr. and Drake Maye. Jones, in surprising fashion, was asked about the latest rumors about the Giants looking to replace him. Danny Dimes is blocking that outside noise:

Daniel Jones isn't worried about rumors flying the Giants will draft his replacement in April

"Like I said, I'm focused on what I'm doing right now and what I can control what's in front of me and that's this rehab process with my knee and healing that up and then doing everything I can to help this team finish strong and play well. That's what I'm focused on and I'm excited to watch these guys finish up."

This is pretty much what you would expect Jones to say in response to a question like that. You've got to feel for this poor guy. On Sunday, he suffered his season-ending injury and already he has to deal with a ton of people assuming that he's going to be out as the starter soon.

In the offseason, Jones signed his $160 million extension with the organization and it has proven to be a major mistake from Joe Schoen. Jones landed his payday after powering the G-Men to a 9-7-1 record in '22, plus a win over the Vikings in the Wild Card Round.

That victory over Minnesota feels like it was 100 years ago, though, as NY is 2-7 on the year and they're projected to have a Top 5 pick. Jones' serious injury has only made things worse, but like he said, he's ready to forget about what happened and get himself ready to help this team out in any way that he can.
