The NY Giants aren't even halfway through the first year of Daniel Jones' massive contract extension and already fans are looking to a future without him. When Joe Schoen gave him $160 million, people were furious. With the team 2-6, they're now livid.

Could this lead to the Giants using an early draft pick on a new quarterback in 2024? That's what the team over at CBS thinks. In a new NFL Mock Draft, CBS' Chris Trapasso has the G-Men trading up with the Arizona Cardinals to land the No. 1 overall pick. And with that pick... Caleb Williams is coming to town.

New Mock Draft has the NY Giants taking Caleb Williams No. 1 overall next spring

"The Giants swing for the fences with Williams, who hasn't exactly lit up college football the past few weeks but has franchise-caliber abilities."

CBS' Chris Trapasso

This would break the internet, as Trapasso indeed thinks a Giants trade with the Cardinals could be on the way for the top spot. Interestingly enough, Trapasso also has the Bears taking quarterback Drake Maye No. 2 overall. Maye has been linked with the Giants quite a bit too.

Jones is set to return to action this weekend for the first time since suffering his neck injury during the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins. It goes without saying, but there's a tremendous amount of pressure on Danny Dimes to try and turn his season around.

Thus far in 2023, Jones has looked rough. He's thrown for 884 yards, only two touchdowns and a concerning six interceptions. With him struggling, Giants Nation has just about had it with him and they don't think he's the answer for this organization long term.

Williams is an exciting young prospect, but he's looked far from perfect for USC this season as well. Could he spark some excitement among the fanbase next spring if the Giants do pull off a blockbuster move? It's tough to say, but before we even think about that, let's see what Jones can do the rest of the way now that the offensive line is starting to get healthy and Saquon Barkley is back at his best.
