As we inch closer to the July 17 deadline for the NY Giants to finalize something with Saquon Barkley, countless fans across the globe are waiting for a happy ending to arrive. Luckily for all of you worried beyond belief, Ian Rapoport has reported that the two sides are back at the negotiating table.
However, it remains up in the air if general manager Joe Schoen will put the kind of guaranteed money on the table that No. 26 is looking for. If you ask SI's Albert Breer, he thinks that Barkley, Tony Pollard and Josh Jones should all be more realistic with their demands and take what their respective teams are willing to offer them. Does Breer have a point here, or should Barkley and the others try and get as much as possible?
The Giants and Saquon Barkley are back at the negotiating table
"Take the money, Saquon, Josh and Tony. And Iām not saying you have to do it now. But between now and July 17 (the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term deals), Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard should figure out just how far the Giants, Raiders and Cowboys are willing to go financially, and then clean all that money off the table.Albert Breer

According to multiple reports, the Giants offered Barkley a deal worth around $14 million a year with incentives included earlier this offseason. However, we must remember that the details of the guaranteed dough were not revealed. If Barkley plays on the franchise tag this year and next season, he'd be looking at around $22 million.
After posting 1,312 rushing yards last season and 10 touchdowns, he's definitely got every right to try and cash in on his career campaign. However, Schoen also has a limit for what he wants to give him, especially with the way the RB market has been set.
Breer didn't hold back in saying Barkley and his fellow tagged RBs should take what they can now before it's too late. We'll find out by July 17 if Barkley and the Giants get a deal done, but things appear to be trending in the right direction.
