With all the bodies in the wide receivers room, NY Giants head doach Brian Daboll is not going to have easy decisions on the way when it comes to getting to his 53-man roster. At 6-6, 220 pounds, could outside wideout Collin Johnson stick around past the summer?

Johnson no question would have been on the Week 1 roster in 2022 had he not suffered a torn Achillies. Now, he's in a fight to be at MetLife Stadium for the Sept. 10 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.

The big-bodied wideout has been raising his stock over the past week, including a head-turning catch on Tuesday in a joint practice with the Lions. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor dropped a perfect ball in for Johnson, who somehow was able to come down with the ball despite a defender being all over him:

Collin Johnson is fighting to make the NY Giants roster this summer

How in the heck was he able to come down with that? The Detroit defender indeed was all over Johnson, but that didn't stop him from posting the impressive reception. You just know that Brian Daboll must have loved seeing this.

After spending the first year of his career with the Jaguars, Johnson, a former fifth-round pick, signed with the Giants in 2021 and appeared in 12 games that campaign. He finished with 11 receptions for 105 yards. He was all set for a much bigger season in '22, but his Achilles injury cut everything short.

Looking ahead to this regular season, though, Johnson wants to prove to the G-Men that he can not only stay healthy, but he can be a great red-zone target for Daniel Jones too. Making the 53-man roster won't be easy for Johnson, but eye-opening receptions like the one he posted on Tuesday will only help his chances.
