Grading every pick the NY Giants made in the 2024 NFL Draft
NY Giants second-round pick Tyler Nubin draft grade: B+
In addition to a WR1, Schoen entered the draft in need of a Xavier McKinney replacement at safety. With McKinney now with the Green Bay Packers on his four-year, $68 million deal, he has left a massive hole in the middle of the secondary. Enter Minnesota DB Tyler Nubin, who was taken with the No. 47 overall pick.
Nubin is a total stud and he's going to be an instant starter for this defense and Shane Bowen. Nubin entered the draft as the highest-rated safety. Plenty of Big Blue supporters were eyeing either him or Jaden Hicks to come in to make a difference for this young DBs group. With Nubin available in the second round, Schoen decided to strike and send his name in.
Last season for the Gophers, Nubin posted a career-high five interceptions. He's known as a ball-hawk and that's exactly what this defense needs. We'll have to wait and see how he does in Year 1, but right now, countless fans are fired up about this selection and rightfully so.
