Heisman contender lands with the NY Giants in new 2025 NFL Mock Draft
The NY Giants are just four weeks into the 2024 season and are already being mocked in the Top 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Not only is this the case, but many, including Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, believe the Giants could spend their potential Top 5 pick on a quarterback to replace Daniel Jones.
This makes sense, as Jones is in the midst of a disappointing season and it's about time for both sides to go their separate ways. However, an interesting question must be asked; which quarterback should the Giants take if they're in a position to draft one next offseason?
With options like Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward, and others, it really seems like New York will have a good chance of landing their franchise guy if things go their way. In this scenario, though, Trapasso has the Giants going with Ward out of Miami with the No. 3 overall pick.
NY Giants land Cam Ward in newest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Seeing Ward go so high to the Giants is not very surprising. Not only is Ward playing at a high level, but he's shown more NFL-worthy traits than ever before and is currently a contender to win the Heisman Trophy.
Through just five games, Ward has completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 1,781 yards, 18 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He isn't a perfect prospect, but Ward is looking like one of the top dogs in this year's class if he keeps this up.
The thing about Ward, though, is that he must keep this trajectory up. He is known for starting off the season hot before eventually cooling down. However, with the rate he is playing at right now, things are looking great for the Heisman hopeful and if he keeps cooking the way he is, plenty of people in New York are going to be calling for Joe Schoen to get him in a Blue Blue jersey.
There are a lot of things that can happen between now and the draft - too many to account for. However, if Jones continues to fluster, and the Giants have another losing season, Ward, or really any of the aforementioned QB prospects, could be suiting up for the G-Men in 2025.
