After taking care of business against the Lions in the preseason opener, the NY Giants have now shifted their energy to the Houston Texans. On Saturday at NRG Stadium, Brian Daboll will hope to make it 2-0 for the summer, though he's going to be more worried about how his quarterback plays early on.

We're of course talking about veteran signal-caller Daniel Jones. Danny Dimes sat out the contest vs. the Lions, but that's not going to be the case against Houston. Nope, Daboll has said that Jones will take the field for his first game action since suffering his torn ACL vs. the Raiders last campaign.

Daniel Jones is expected to start for the Giants vs. Houston

What can we expect to see out of Jones? Hopefully, his knee doesn't give him any issues and he's able to move like normal. Not only that, but Jones needs to show he can consistently throw the ball downfield - it's been a bit of a worry for him throughout camp. Jones is going to want to build chemistry with his WRs too with Week 1 sneaking up on us. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like his top wideout will be available for this one.

Malik Nabers is not expected to play vs. the Texans this weekend

During the first practice session following the win over Detroit, No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers went down with an ankle injury and panic alarms went off all over New York and New Jersey. Thankfully, it's just a minor sprain for the speedster. With that said, the staff isn't going to rush him back and they're going to take it easy with him this week. He'll likely skip the Houston game and also the preseason finale vs. the Jets.

NY Giants avoid the worst-case scenario with running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Another player who won't be in action vs. the Texans is Tyrone Tracy Jr., but plenty of people are feeling relieved right now. That's because when Tracy was carted off the field with an air cast on his leg, the assumption was his season would be in jeopardy. Luckily, he's dealing with a low-ankle sprain and nothing more. Tracy is a doubt for the start of the season, but his injury could have been so much worse.
